The 6th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival will take place September 11-20, 2009. This year's festival will feature 24 guided hikes over 10 days, evening presentations, opening and closing closing ceremonies, workshops and a bonfire on a full moon night. 

Hike the Highlands Festival has been recognized by Nova Scotia Dept. of Tourism, Culture & Heritage as a Nova Scotia Signature Festival & Event in 2009. This recognition is a credit to our team of volunteers, guides & sweeps, partners, sponsors and of course ....you the the hiker.

This year's festival features nine new guided hikes and four popular trails brought back from previous years such as Meat Cove Mountain, Cape St. Lawrence/Lowland Cove, Salmon Pools, and Red Island. Hikers should bring  the following equipment - hiking boots, a daypack, water bottle, sunglasses, camera, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a jacket. Sorry no dogs are allowed on the hikes.

Our festival team of volunteers looks forward to welcoming and meeting you at our 6th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival Sept. 11-20, 2009. Our registration opens on July 24. Hikers will be able to purchase both the Hiking Festival Pass & Cape Breton Highlands National Park entry pass from our festival - online, mail or at the registration desk during open hours at the festival.

Note: You will pick up your hiking festival pass and national park entry permit at the festival headquarters - the conference room at Glenghorm Beach Resort, Ingonish.
